This month’s M.I.A. is set for the 19th as a guaranteed stellar end of the year celebration. The upcoming event is featuring an old poetry professor of mine from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Robert Sullivan of New Zealand. I remember him encouraging me to write about family and culture, he emphasized their importance in an islander’s life. He’s one of the most memorable professors I’ve had during my undergraduate years at the university.
